This is a New Old Stock TAG Heuer Carrera automatic Chronograph in stainless steel. New Old Stock = never been sold and in case ready condition! The 43mm steel case houses a TAG Heuer calibre 1887, which is a column wheel controlled, bi-directional winding, integrated automatic chronograph movement. The black dial has silver markers and hands with red accents. It is finished with a black alligator strap and steel deployant clasp. This piece is complete and ships with its original TAG Heuer box and warranty card.
The Carrera is an iconic part of TAG Heuer's legacy. It has become one of TAG Heuer's best selling watches and the platform to launch interesting developments like the R&D movements (like the Mikrograph) and their modular case construction (Carrera 01). The calibre 1887 was their first attempt at building a chronograph movement in-house. This was added in part by Seiko, who is listed as a supplier for the 1887. This movement was so robust, that when Jean-Claude Biver took over TAG, Heuer, he built the Carrera collection around it. It was rechristened the calibre 01 (fitting as it was TAG's first movement) and is still in production today.
