Original Patek Philippe Gay Freres 18k Bracelet (double Signed by Patek): Patek Philippe offered nine different bracelets for this reference at its time of release and only a handful were were made by Gay Frères, like this example. This original Gay Freres solid 18k yellow gold Bracelet made for Patek Philippe features a Mesh style with herringbone pattern and is double signed. First it features the Double Opposing P's logo on the bracelet clasp (and that logo matches the Opposing P's logo on the winding crown). Secondly, on the reverse side of the clasp there are distinct and sharp stampings: 'Patek Philippe & Co Geneve' 'BREVETE' and 'SWISS MADE.' General consensus is that this is clearly one of the most beautiful and unique bracelets from Patek Philippe ever offered. And we feel this is clearly an example that has passed the test of time after more than half a century.
original 'Double Opposing P's' sculpted winding crown: the original 'Double Opposing P's' sculpted winding crown was first released with this reference where the Double Opposing P's were actually carved or sculpted in relief out of the winding crown. You can guess that from winding and daily wear the Double P's on the crown could become worn down very quickly and in fact on most examples that is exactly the case. Amazingly enough, this watch has that original double P's winding crown where the 'PP' logo is thick and crisp and well cared for. The Ref 2526 was the first time this distinctive stylized logo was used on the crown and its pretty cool. (check out our detailed photos)
original Enamel 'Gubelin' Dial; originally described in marketing material as ‘Double-baked enamel on sterling disc. This is a modern version of the old durable enameled dial. Its features: greater beauty and durability. It will not change color; it is highly scratch-resistant, and it can be washed with soap and water.' True to its boasting, this dial has certainly stood the test of time. The white enamel dial on this watch is crisp and clean wtih no cracks or hairlines, no discoloration and features a very discreet logo of one of the oldest authorized dealers of Patek Philippe, the German watch retailer Gubelin just above, or more likely on top of the seconds dial and just beneath where the hour and minutes hand attach to the center post. Its easy to miss but once youve seen it is a rare treat!
