Longines Vintage 1930’s Monopusher Chronograph – 35mm 18k
Generously Oversized (for the Time Period) 35mm 18k case (Ultra Rare)
Oversized 35mm solid 18k case (verified original to the watch) with double casebacks (similar to how pocket watches were constructed for that time period). Each caseback has its own set of hinges. 1 case back opens to reveal a solid case back engraved with Longines GPH awards and serves to protect the movement; the 2nd case back protecting the movement is swung open to reveal (and permit direct access to) the movement
First Chronograph Movement in a Wristwatch
Powered by Original 13.33 Caliber Movement – This movement (and watch) represents one of the first chronograph movements ever fitted in a wrist watch. Stunningly simple yet incredibly complex in its design and engineering. As a Manual winding Monopusher chronograph, the winding crown at 3:00 winds and sets the watch and the button on the tip of the winding crown does triple duty to start/stop/reset the chronograph function. (when the crown is pushed in, The first push starts the chronograph, the second stops it, the third resets it). And all cased in a 35mm wrist watch
Verified Original – Shipped to Italian Distributor in 1930
Case, movement, dial, etc are all matching and original to the watch; serial and movement numbers are matching and verified in Longines historical archives. Comes with Longines Archival Verification letter stating this watch left Switzerland and was shipped to Italian distributor in February 1930.
