Description

Ball Engineer Hydrocarbon Hunley Diver Special Edition - Equipped w/ Amortiser® patented anti-shock system

This watch was created to celebrate the significance of the Confederate Submarine, the HL Hunley.  During the Civil War, The HL Hunley was the first combat submarine to sink a warship (USS Housatonic) in 1864.

This is a brand new watch.  Purchased brand new by our client circa 2019 and rarely (if ever) worn.  Seriously, i am unable to see any signs of wear anywhere on this watch.  Please check out our detailed photos and see for yourself.  What you see is what you get and all photos are of actual watch taken date of listing.

100% Complete; Watch is complete with everything as purchased brand new direct from Ball dealer including:  Original Ball Watches presentation box set, Ball Watches Warranty Card and Limited Edition Certificate/Card and Hang Tag (all serialized, individually numbered and matching to watch), Ball Watches Instruction/Service Booklet--everything as pictured below and purchased new direct from dealer!

The Standout Features of this watch are the Bezel/Dial and Amortiser anti-shock system:

Amortiser (Anti-Shock System)--Check This out, this is really cool!  The Amortiser system is one of the more exotic and interesting anti-shock features and only a few select Ball Watch models have this innovation.  The idea of the Amortiser system is to lock the automatic rotor (of a mechanical movement into place) thereby protecting the movement from damage caused by the automatic rotor moving out of place in event of severe impact or shock.  In order to lock the rotor, you go to the caseback of the watch and turn the inner part of the caseback from the “Off” to “On” position.  This essentially makes the watch operate like a manual winding watch.  IN manual winding mode, the winding rotor is frozen in place and therefore is unable to damage the movement in event of shock.

The brilliant part about having a power reserve indicator on the dial is that if you choose to have the Amortiser engaged for a long time (freezing the winding rotor and making your watch manual winding), you can know how much power is left on the movement so that you can manually wind it when needed.  For that reason, the Amortiser works really well with a power reserve indicator, because with it engaged, an automatic watch is turned temporarily into a manually wound watch. The Amortiser system gives the watch shock resistance up to 7,500 Gs and 4,800 A/m of anti-magnetic resistance.  As If that wasn't enough, this watch is water resistant to 200m.

Fully Lumed Ceramic Bezel and Dial:  Fully Lumed black ceramic (scratch-resistant) 120-click divers bezel--tight and easy to turn even while wearing gloves and glows like a flashlight!  Bezel frames a Super clean black dial with track of concentric circles being used only on the outside periphery of the dial, under the hour markers. Like other models in the Engineer Hydrocarbon family, the minute markers are placed on a curved flange ring around the main dial of the watch. Being a Ball product also means use of a lot of tritium gas tubes for lume – which self-illuminate for unrivaled ongoing legibility in the dark.   Power Reserve Indicator on a dial is useful since this watch can be operated as an automatic or manual winding watch via Amortiser On/Off switch
